Michiru Inoue (井上 みちる, Inoue Michiru) was a human who lived away from Earth and the mother of Shoma.

Michiru lived on the planet Earth and was taken away to live with the Stomach family shortly before or after giving birth to Shoma. While away from Earth, she would often lament about the snacks that she missed eating to the young Shoma, sparking his attachment to them.
Michiru was murdered by a Stomach family Agent later on, prompting Shoma to flee.

“Michiru” (みちる) is written in hiragana, but in kanji form it can mean “fill” or “overflow”.
“Inoue” (井上) is a common Japanese surname that means “above a village”.
